"As the flames and smoke from the recent wildfires impacted countless residents of the Bay Area, we at Harker experienced the emotional roller-coaster of the event as Harker families living in the affected areas eagerly awaited news about their homes. Sadly, two staff members' houses were consumed by the fire, but many others were saved thanks to the exceptional effort of the responders. And, more importantly, everyone and every animal was saved," said Brian Yager, Head of School, The Harker School. "Given our school's mission 'to prepare our students to take their place as global citizens,' it is uplifting to see our students take on this project to recognize and support the members of the firefighting community who sacrifice so much to safeguard the people and environment around us, and who, through their efforts, are heroes to all of us."
